Brazil began their America Cup participation with a 2-0 loss against Mexico, and then in their second game they beat Chile 3-0. Robinho had a hat trick that game. Brazil is looking to finish first in the group by beating Venezuela, and hoping that Mexico loses.

Robinho scored his first America Cup goal from the penalty spot against Chile, he then received a nice pass from Vagner Love that he chipped just over the keeper, and finally his third goal was a thing of beauty. He ran past two defenders and shot a low ball with his left foot to make the game 3-0.

If Robinho has another one of his nights and gives Brazil the win, they most likely end in second place. That would be beneficial for them, because they would play the best third place team on Saturday in Puerto La Cruz where they been staying.

"If we don't have to travel it would be very good", admitted Julio Baptista, who was loaned to Arsenal from Real Madrid.

Ecuador coach Luis Fernando Suarez has stated that "everything was a total failure", and even if they beat Brazil, which he calls improbable, would not take the bad taste out of his mouth.

He left his job as coach in the hands of the Ecuadorian Federation and whatever his family thinks, however he said he does not plan on quitting "for now", but he did schedule a press conference to say "something".

Suarez also apologized to the Ecuadorian people for their lack of finishing, as well as their defensive errors.
