After receiving nine goals in two games and being practically eliminated, the team morale is very low. However, Colombia coach Jorge Luis Pinto wants to begin thinking about the World Cup qualifiers and use this as a learning experience. This Thursday there will be changes. The first will be a forced one, after Fabian Vargas was red carded against Argentina. It looks as if Pinto will replace Vargas with Jaime Castrillon, even though he has not confirmed anything. Different central defensive tandems were tried during the practices, and it appears as if Colombia will use the tandem of Perea - Yepes. Macnelly Torres might be another change in the starting line up and come in for midfielder David Ferreira. The U.S. is also coming into the game against Colombia with two losses, and their goal difference of minus five makes it improbable that they will make it to the next round. The U.S. has shown good play in the first half of their games, but they seem to be out of gas in the second half. It happened against both Argentina and Paraguay. Probable Starters: Colombia: Miguel Calero; Gerardo Vallejo, Mario Yepes, Luis Amaranto Perea, Javier Arizala; Jaime Castrillón, Jorge Banguero, John Viáfara; Macnelly Torres; Edixon Perea and Hugo Rodallega. United States: Casey Keller; Marvell Wynne, Jay DeMerit, Jimmy Conrad, Jonathan Bornstein; Ben Olsen, Richard Clark, Benny Feilhaber, Justin Mapp; Taylor Twellman and Eddie Johnson. |
