The winning goals were scored by Nery Castillo in the 5th and 38th minute, the first was from the penalty spot, Gerardo Torrado in the 26th minute, Fernando Arce in the 78th minute, Cuauhtemoc Blanco from the penalty spot in the 86th minute, and Omar Bravo closed the scoring in the 91st minute.

Mexico will face the winner of the game between played Argentina and Peru in Merida.

In the second minute of play Paraguayan Aldo Bobadilla was red carded after taking down Mexican striker Nery Castillo in the box.

Nery Castillo of Greek side Olympiakos scored from the penalty spot. He shot the ball past Joel Zayas, who had just come on the pitch.

The Tri used their one man advantage and made the score 2-0 in the 26th minute. Juan Carlos Cacho controlled a pass and left Gerardo Torrado wide open. Torrado blasted the ball past the keeper and into the goal.

That second goal took the wind out of the Paraguayan sails. The Paraguayan defensive error gave Mexico their third goal. Nery Castillo found himself alone in the box and made the game 3-0 in the 38th minute.

Mexico managed to keep the shutout, while Fernando Arce shot the ball from outside of the box and made the game 3-0 in the 78th minute.

Paraguay seemed to have given up, and Mexico took advantage by scoring in the 86th minute Blanco scored another penalty spot, and Omar Bravo closed the scoring in the 91st.
