"He did not listen to me, because he was following the rule, but we felt totally humiliated", stated Martino referring to the outcome of the game against Mexico on Sunday.

Paraguay play with only 10 men from the third minute of the game, after their starting goalkeeper, Aldo Bobadilla, was red carded for fouling Nery Castillo in the box.

Martino stated that "it was a penalty, and (Pezzotta) did not have any other choice. I do not have a problem with the call".

Martino addressed the question If his team could have avoided the tragic result, if he had put midfielders instead of leaving his forwards in. He said his intentions were to play Mexico the same even though they were a man down.

"Mexico adjusted to the heat. They were circulating the ball well. We could not adjust to the adversity of the game. Had I taken out a striker, I would had given up the possibility of tying the game", added Martino.

The Mexican squad scored three goals in the first half without much trouble, and added another three in the second half.
