Mexico finished third.

The moment when Mexico began to take control away from Uruguay is when Uruguay struck. Sebastian Abreu, with a strong header in the box, made the game 1-0 after a nice cross by Maxi Pereira.

From that moment on Mexico began to react. Players like Nery Castillo began to bring danger to the goal defended by Fabian Carini.

In the 36th minute a penalty was called in favor of Mexico. Uruguayan captain Diego Lugano was red carded after fouling Gerardo Torrado in the box. Blanco struck the ball hard from the penalty spot tied the game 1-1. That action changed the game completely.

Playing with a man down hurt Uruguay, especially in the second half. Uruguay never stopped attacking, but they left many spaces for Mexico to attack.

Mexico gained control of the ball and the game. The extra player began making a difference.

Andres Guardado came in for Pinto to give Mexico a better attack. Uruguay had to counter attack in order to create chances.

Mexico was finally able to go up in the score. Omar Bravo put the ball in the left upper 90 of the goal, giving Fabian Carini no chance, and making the game 2-1.

Just minutes later Andres Guardado closed the scoring for Mexico, and made the game 3-1 with 15 minutes left to play.
