He scored1281 goals in 1375 games. Pele was brilliant even when he wouldn’t score. Who can’t remember his dribble past the Uruguayan Marzukiewics in the Mexico 70 semifinal? The ball didn’t go in, but this magician with number 10 on his back become a historic figure in the World Cups.

Before turning 18 Pele was already breaking jaws in Sweden 58. Brazil won and the kid scored some impressive goals against Wales and France.

He was always closely marked and because of the he was not that lucky in the next couple of World Cups. He only played 4 more games but he scored a goal in each World Cup. In chile 62 he scored against Mexico, but got injured in the second game. 4 years later, in England 66, Pele also scored on the first match.

In 1970, he took his redemption and became the leader of perhaps the best team in history and scores 4 goals in the 6 games he played. He gave the last Jules Rimet Cup to Brazil after winning the country’s third World Cup. He decided not to partake in the 1974 World cup and retired in 1977 in the US.
