Without a doubt, Hugo Sanchez Marquez is the best Mexican player of all time, and even thought he had a better career at the club level than on the international scene, he will always be a huge a part of the Mexican national team.

In his first years as a professional, Sanchez Marquez did great in the youth tournaments in CONCACAF and everyone saw him as a forward with a great future.

He could have taken part in 5 World Cups for Mexico, but they did not qualify for the World Cup 82 and were suspended for Italy 90, so he only played 2 World Cups.

In World Cup 94 in USA Miguel Mejia Baron decided not to start him during the over time in the round of 16th against Bulgaria and no one in Mexico would ever forgive him for that.

After that overtime, Mexico would lose from the penalty spot and Hugo lost his chance of doing something big for his national team.
