Germany has the third-largest economy in the world and boasts a leading position in the international arena. It is the most important market in Europe, with the highest gross national product of the entire European Union. It is an economic and industrial epicenter whose exports head the globally famous automotive industry. The official currency is the euro, which recently replaced the traditional German mark as part of Germany’s integration into the European Union. The euro is higher in value by a few cents than the US dollar (1 euro = 1.25 US$, approximately). |
