Safety
Crime in Germany: violent crime is rare in Germany, although it is possible, especially in the high-risk zones of large cities, such as train stations. The majority of street-crime incidents consist of robbery of unattendend objects and petty pilfering.

Some advice:
For travelers who want to have a trouble-free stay, just follow a few basic rules:

The best way to carry money is in the form of traveler’s checks, changing them as you need money;
Whenever possible, leave valuable items (jewelry, traveler’s checks, credit cards, airline tickets, etc.) in a safe in the hotel or wherever you are staying. You can also find companies in the Yellow Pages that offer safety deposit box services.
Do not leave baggage unattended in a car.
Take out traveler’s insurance to cover expenses of any loss or robbery you might experience.
In the event of an emergency, you can call the police from any telephone booth. The free number is 110.
