The new Hamburg Stadium opened to the public on September 2, 2000 for the international match between Germany and Greece.

This attractive stadium, and specially the local fans, are now eagerly awaiting the Mannschaft next visit. Uwe Seeler, among others, guarantees “three points for sure” for any German Team that plays there.

The works started in March 1998 with the four-stage demolition of the old Volkspark Stadium, the change of direction of the field, and the reconstruction of the stands.

All grand stand, suites and press boxes were completely rebuilt. All stands are now covered. In the Summer of 2001, 400 seats were added to the grand stand.
